Central Monitoring

Hi,

We have EWA alerts setup of all satellite systems. Still we would like to get automatic alerts on some of the resources like CPU, memory, disk space. So thinking to configure CCMS alerts which can send emails directly on the selected resources. Can anybody suggest which of the following strategy is recommended?

1) Configure central monitoring system (let us say SOLMAN) with all satellite systems and generate the auto alerts

It seems we must install CCMS agents on each satellite system to transfer the data to central monitoring system

2) Configure locally on each satellite system to generate the auto alerts

Thanks,

Kris

Hi Kris,

Both of these scenarios are possible. One is central system monitoring (by using a CEN) and the other is local system monitoring. It depends on how exactly you would like to monitor the systems. If you are using CCMS monitoring it basically means that the data is collected in each satellite system and fed through agents to the central system.

I suppose Central system monitoring is more common as it gives one central location to monitor all systems (especially good if you have a many systems).

You can centrally do all these also through the solution manager system, and get alerts generated from here. The link below gives some details on this:

Hope this is of some help,
