hello,
I want to ask some things...
I want to have 2 XI (Development XI & Productive XI).
Can I have them in the same machine? or do I hvae to have them seperate machines?
If I have them in the same machine can I have only one SLD?
Thank you very much.
Hi David.
It is possible to install two XIs on the same WAS host
but you have to be very careful during the second installation because you might get confused with identical file names during installation of the XI e.g. exchange profile,j2ee instances memory settings and so.
Unless you have a very "strong" host with a good resources controlling software (Vmware etc.)I would be very careful when it comes to installing a productive system on the same host not only because of SAP installation but for "old-school" system maintenance methodology(Backups, system crashes,tuning..etc) sometimes its better to invest on a good landscape architecture and hardware (today's hardware prices are quite cheap) then spending priceless time on system failure and expensive BASIS consulting hours.

Hi,
Irrespective of whether you have the SAP XI on two different machine or same you can have one SLD.

I think, Yes, you can have 2 XI in one machine.
Anyway 2 systems can point to same SLD that is sure.
Because we can have multiple systems like SRM, XI, R/3 in same machine
More clearly, one physical server can have mutlple OSs. Each OS can have mulitple Databases. Each Database can have XI,EP multiple components.
Hope this helps,
Regards,
Moorthy
