Please answer from the functional perspective.
What exactly is a phantom material in a BOM? And its significance in a BOM?
What is the Difference between a Sub item to a part in a BOM and a Sub assembly?
Thanks
Hello Melvipais
A phantom is an intermediate component which is generated in the production of a main component and consumed.
We dont consider it for planning purpose.
BOM will have many items, some of which may be sub-assemblies. The component in the sub-assebly is a sub-item.

The definition provided for Phantom number was suitable but I was looking for some Examples on where it is used.
Sorry ! not asked in the original questions.
The Definition provided for sub item is not clear for me as
Once materials are added into the BOM.It allows you to define parts SUBITEMS on the material.
Subassemblies can be seperately added into the BOM.
Are you sayin that definin a Sub item on a material automatically makes it a subassembly?
