Ward Cart Inventory

Hello Experts,

We are implementing SAP for hospital's supply chian. Trying to figure out how the ward carts are handeled in SAP IS-H solution?

Today the business has all the items as expensed on a ward cart and they do not want to switch to make cart as inventory location (e.g. a storage location) but still they want to monitor stock and order items based on min max, from DC or external vendor.

Is there any standard way of handling this requirement in IS-H? In SAP ECC it will be aheavy customization though.

Any help is highly appreciated.

Thanks,

KHAN

Hi Khan

In all the places I've implemented ISH, the Ward is treated in MM as an storage location if you want to have the inventory.

The same happens with the Crash Cart (code cart, Crash trolley or Carro de paro in spanish). They are storage locations also.

As far as I know, there is no ISH object to handle that but the MM objects.

I hope it helps and sorry for not having a better answer for your fingers.

With best regards

Matías

Hello,

if you do not want to handle inventory managed stocks on the ward (more then 90% of our our customers do no want to have this) but to minimize the disadvantages (running out, expiry, no overview) with IS-H you can use the closet management system as part of the material replenishment functionality. You can assign here closets (perhaps with shelfs and bins) to a material and max quantity. If the picking area is empty you only have to scan this material and the replenishment process will start. You could also count the remaining items and the system will automatically request the difference between max and the counted number. Please have a look into the documentation (closet management) if that fits your requirement.

Thank you all. The problem we are having is that the client is implementing SAP ECC 6.0 for supply chain and finance operations and IS-H is not in scope. This is why closet functionality can not be used. We are going toward customizing the solution to run replenishment on carts.

We have some customers only using the material replenishment functionality from IS-H. There exists also a separate pricing package for supply chain and supplier relationship management healthcare. If you want to use material replenishment from IS-H only the configuration of the organizational units is necessary within IS-H. Of course patient (case) related replenishment is then not possible because you do not have any patient cases within IS-H.
