Unable to find any Java instances on the host

Hello

we are adding a new scenario in an active java instance NW7.11CE, in particular the DI capatibility.

After inserting the CD's , after checking for the instances in the host the sapinst ends with

Unable to find any Java instances on the host. Installation will

terminate now.

Java instance called NWD was installed with Virtual hostname called "nwdja1", and we start the installation with this command: ./sapinst

SAPINST_USE_HOSTNAME=nwdja1.

The instance was normally up, and we can log-on to the NWA.

Hy Thunder

The DI capatibility is an add on for the biller direct application.

At the end we opened a message to SAP.

They have modified the control.xml of our installation and the problem was solved. we could complete the installation with success.

Thanks

Nicola

Hi,

Why are you using sapinst to install additional usage type DI in your Java system ??

You can do it with JSPM. Check SAP Note 883948 - NW 7.00(2004s): Inst.Add.Java Usage Types/Software Units

Thanks

Hy Sunny

we are talking about an adding of a new capatibility and we can do only through the sapinst installation as guide said abut this particular component.

We have also opened a message to SAP that confirm it

thanks

Nicola

Hi Nicola,

How is the status now?

In fact, "capatibility" seems not to be a standard SAP term, and here we don't know exactly what you are meaning.

And it seems to be saying an additional Usage Type(which is standard term), if this is the case, it should be done with JSPM, not SAPINST.

Hence it also seems you are trying to install a new instance or some new component, did you refer to any guide? if yes, could you please share with us here in order to get more hints?

Anyway if runing SAPINST into problem, you need to check not only the sapinst_dev.log but also the control.xml file which

contains very important configuration or phase/status information.

Thanks

Thunder
