MDM 5.5 to MDM 7.1 upgradation Testing

Hi All,

We want to upgrade from MDM 5.5 to MDM 7.1. Therefore we are doing Laboratory environment testing for this upgrade

We have archieved repository from current environment and then unarchieved it in laboratory environment.

Please find below few problmes which we are facing.

1.We are getting Win 32 error: Is it because current env in 32 bit but Lab env is 64 bits.

How does it affects if 2 environments are different (Bits wise) . Kindly suggest

2.We were not able to load the repository in Lab environment when we were having 'Validation' in Repository. We have to remove all the 'Validatons' and then Repository got loaded in Lab environment. Same was the case for calculated fields. The log was showing erros for Validations and Calculation Fields.

Is it possible to migrate repository with the validation and calculation rules ? Kindly suggest

3.After migrating to Lab envt, Description for fields and tables still contain some weird characters.In current envt, the decsrption fields for Fields and Tables are blank.

What could be the reason for this?

4.In lab environment, database is a MaxDB and in real environment database is Oracle. Is this causing these issues.

What will be the difference / problems if we have 2 different databases in 2 different environments.

Request you to kindly guide on the above problems.

*Yes, will be better if that to environments will be the same.

For rich client doesn't matter which environment you use you can connect to both.*

*We try to do it. Results is not OK. No, Will be better delete all validations before migration and recreate its in new repository.

if you mean as calculation- calculated fields - recommendation the same as validation.*

*Check character set in old and new databases its should be the same. *

Hi All,

In Laboratory environment, we were successfull to migrate Vendor repository once we deleted validations and calculation field from 5.5 version

But while unarchieving Material repository in 7.1, we got the error 'Load Aborted with Error.XXXX - Win32 Structure Exception error occured.' We were not able to load the repository at all.

Any clues about how to handle this error and how can we load the repository.

As discussed earlier, we are using Win 32 in current envt (5.5 ) and win 64 in Laboratory envt (7.1).

Kindly suggest.
