Hi All,
Our system 'XXX' is completely down after resetting the password of
user SAPSR3.Though the database is up and I am able to connect with the
ID SAPSR3 and password, still restart of SAP is not happening. Giving error startup
of database failled with RC = 12.
Please help us to resolve this issue. Is there a way to truncate the old incorrect password
from table SAPUSER at OS level and insert the new password in the table?
Your help will be highly obliged.

Have a look at [SAP Note 562863 - FAQ: Logon mechanisms|https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/562863]
Point 6 and 7 will help.
Hope this helps.
Thanks,
Naveed
