Hello,
In DEV server it is having 4 seperate clients. (Golden client-100,SANDBOX client-120, Authorization client-140 and Unit Testing client-160)
This matter is about 160-Unit Testing client. (Not QA client)
Our developers saying they are lack of test data in 160 client, to test !!! further asking whether is it possible to import data from PRD.
So i'd like to know; Is it OK/Possible to import data from PRD to 160 client?
Can we import set of tables and data that the developers required, Other than performing a client-copy.
(Like export set of tables from PRD, and import them to Unit Testing client)
Is such a thing recommend to perfrom?
Regards,

No, this is not recommended. You need to do client copy only.
Thanks

Hi,
I guess you can use the TDMS (Test Data Migration System) to copy some data from one system to other.
I hope ur developers will not require a live data to test the scenarios and also it is not advisible to have the production data (as it will be having very sensitive data) in development client (without having proper access restrictions in place). In that case u can better ask your developers or the functional consultants to create a test data in the development client (client 160, in ur case). I would prefer this method to solve ur issue.
One more thought, y can't u think of copying the data from ur QA to DEV (I assume u have a three system landscape)???

Hi,
If we do a client copy with PRD / QA to 160 (Unit testing client), then what will happens to the configurations.
Currently this 160 client is having Golden client (100) configurations.
Golden client and Unit Testing client is synchronize. (For eg. when change request is released it will transport to both SAND and unit testing client)
Doing client copy from PRD to 160 , will that make any issue? (Since PRD configurations and 160 config. are differ)
or else is it possible to get only the DATA that is available in PRD !
So wht is the best recommended method :
- Client refresh with 100 (Golden)
OR
- Client copy with PRD / QA
Thanks.
not sure how is your transport management.
If you are importing the transport to QAS and then it will be under PRD queue. Mean you will have all the pending transport into PRD which are already in QAS.
After your client copy you can perform all the transports import into QAS which are in PRD. You can do this by copying your PRD buffer to QAS buffer (usr\sap\trans\buffer)
Or if you explain your transport strategy then will see what other option you have to import client from PRD to QAS.
Hello,
Do not refresh any client in DEV you can go ahead and copy the only require data form Golden to UT client otherwise this will mess up all your testing.
As your said: Our developers saying they are lack of test data - ???? They should co-ordinate with functional consultant and make sure that they are doing the same configuration what they are doing in Golden Client.
I would like to suggest below environment:
200-GOLDEN : Final configuration (Do not import any thing here)
210-FUNCTIONAL / DEVELOPMENT : Configuration & Development
220-UNIT_TEST : Perform Test (Provide SCC1 to import from 210)
Additionally you can also make 2 clients in QA for 1-testing & 2nd for training (end_users)
