Cannot store multiple license keys in SLICENSE on production system.

We use MIMIX to mirror our production updates to our mirrored system. Since upgrading to ECC 5.0 and now ECC 6.0 we have been unable to post both the Production machine license and the License of the mirrored system at the same time. What this means is that when we practice our failover from PRD to PRD mirrored we have to go to failed over system and then logon with SAP* to add the license for this machine. Has anyone using a mirrored environment found a way to store 2 license on their current live production system? If so how was this accomplished?

Thanks for your replies, Udo

Hi,

Have you referred [SAP Note 31238 - License for switchover solutions|https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/31238] ?.

I hope it will address your question and its possible solution.

As per SAP Note 31238, For two Same SAP SID, it is possible to receive two license keys for an R/3 System (production system) from SAP's 'Software Factory' - one key for each machine.

Refer SAP Note 31238 to get more information about possible solution.

Hi Udo,

ok, that explains your issue ...

So, you should "move the keys" and then it will be easier ...

Hi Udo,

in my eyes, your probem will lie at a different point here ...

Do you have 2 times PRD in OSS with one hardware ID each or do you have 1 entry PRD in OSS with 2 hardware IDs ?

In the furst case, this is pretty usually - in the second case, it will work

Hi Udo,

Very interesting question... I have applied the licenses for the mirrored systems on different releases/platforms before, and never had issue with it.

Could Mimix exclude the license file from the replication object list? (It was configured this way on the systems I worked many years ago, but I abandoned this approach eventually.)

Best regards,
