Howdy,
Where can I dowload Eclipse from and what OS do I need and what spec PC would be good and how much disk space etc.
The official eclipse web site has it at over 30 GB!!!!!
That can't be right can it?????????????
Thanks y' all!
Do you want eclipse or the SAP Netweaver Developer studio?
If you are just looking for eclipse you can get it on any of the numerous mirrors. For example http://eclipse.cis.sinica.edu.tw/downloads/drops/R-3.0.1-200409161125/index.php
And the size is around 85 MB for windows (haven't checked for other OS:es).

hi,
have you really been at the correct homepage?
you can download at http://www.eclipse.org
and it's not 30GB, I estimate roundabout 100MB...
you'll need a "standard" computer to use it.
available platforms are listed at the download site, too.

ps: consider rewarding points, if this answers your question

Howdy,
Yep I'm not that dopey - I did go to the right page...
Listen, can I run the SAP Netweaver developer studio on my home PC?
I do ABAP at the moment and want to learn JAVA so would eclipse or SAP Netweaver developer studio be better for this?
Lots of juicy points up for grabs for the best replies!
sap netweaver developer studio 2.0.y bases on eclipse 2.x and has the same system requirements.
you can use the preview version if you don't have got a license (if this was your intension...)
if you want to develop SAP applications, i'd recommend sap developer studio, because it's the only way to develop Web Dnypro applications.
if you want to be always up to date regarding java technology, use the latest eclipse build (no SAP support!)
of course, you can install both IDEs on your computer, too
