Overall Process of releasing a product

Former Member

I am new to SAP plm and I would like some clarification on the overall process.

Assume we have to manufacture a Plastic cup.<single part>

As we all know the originals/Native files- 2D/3D are managed in DMS created by CADI or CV01n.

These are then linked to materials creating a new materials in mm01.

I cannot track any revision on material master?

I cannot go to document/originals via the material master?

Then how does SAP-PLM enable a company to manufacture what they design.

How are version complexities managed between Material masters and Documents?

If I am not very clear with my question please inform me.

Best regards

MELVI.

Hi Melvi,

based on your question about the links between material masters and document info records you are able to see the links in on DMS side (CV02N or CV03N) and on material side (MM02 and MM03).

In CV02N/CV03N transaction there will be a special tab called 'Object links' on this tab you can see a sub-tab for each object type which is maintained in the customizing or were an object link exists.

In MM02/MM03 you have to press the button "Additional Data". On the next screen you will find a tab called "Document Data" where again all linked document info records are displayed.

For further information please see also the following link http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/PLM/Maintainobjectlinks and the online document under

Hi Thanks for your answer Christoph.

I have only one question pending over all the rest which have been answered.

How is the revision of a material tracked in SAP-PLM?

Hi,

in SAP ERP/PLM, revisions to a material are always related to a change number, so you do a change on a material with a change number and set a related revision level.

Material revisions are hence independent of document versions or revisions. See related documentation.

Hello

From the bom header you can see the material revisions.

Also in Material Master Basic Data 1 you can track the revision level.

Thanks & Regards
