Hi,
What are PROS and CONS of using seasonal planning in Demand Planning? Is there any alternative to seasonal planning in DP?
Anup
Hi ,
Seasonal Planning component in APO DP gives some additional functions for carrying out demand planning within business environment which shows traits of seasonal planning in its overall planning activities.
APO DP Seasonal Planning component can be used to perform a flexible time-based aggregation of planning data based on season years.
Pros and Cons are in respect to APO functionality.
Pros:
1. Flexibility to divide the time frame of a season year into as many seasons as we wish
2. We can model season years according to regions.
3. Supports Interactive Demand Planning including Macros
4. Supports Macro Execution with Mass Processing
Cons: Major Restrictions
1. Seasonal planning is not available for planning areas of Supply Network Planning (SNP) or for DP planning areas with characteristics-based forecasting (CBF) or with a DP BOM.
2. Business Add-Ins (BAdIs) cannot access season-specific data.
3. Collaborative Planning is not available for seasonal planning.
4. Macros containing date-relevant step definitions are not executed at seasonal level.
The alternative to Seasonal planning component is the normal APO DP functionality, wherein, you will not have functions mentioned.
