sap is not connecting after database restore

Hello

I have restored offline backup on different SID machine, database is opened, but the SAP is not connecting to database,

database is oracle with windows 2003 server

Hi,

As per your message you have restored the database of one SID in another SID right? If thats the case then you need to the post-activity like creating the new control file as per my knowledge for the SAP to start. ( The process you followed is like a system copy and do the post-activities as per the system copy guide which you can find at https://websmp204.sap-ag.de/instguides).

Have u completed the post restore activities like creating control file, recreating the OPS$ user and all ? If not please complete those activities and then try to start SAP.

Executing R3trans -d will also help u to identify where the problem is. Execute R3trans -x and then post the trans.log here.

We would suggest you to read system copy guide or refer some good links for performing system copy using DB backup/restore method

As mentioned by Gagan, going through the system copy guides and specifially the database dependent part would help solving the issues.

Please go through the guides and complete the post processing and then try to start ur SAP.

Hi,

Check if any issues starting the db on its own. If not, run R3trans -d and check the contents of the trans.log that gets generated. Also checkthe latest files to be updated in your work directory.

Check the connectivity with R3trans -dx and find the root cause in tran.log and dev_w0 trc file.

Paste the ERROR lines from above logs, Only if you couldn't understand.
