What is rebate? How it is different from discount? What is rebate agreement configured? Pls explain with examples.

Hi

Rebate is the agreement to give an amount in credit to the customer if certain level of sales order is received over a decided period. This may be a yearly calculation.

Discount is normally provided on each sales, and is not dependent on total volume .

Rebate is kind of discount, But will be settled after the rebate period is completed unlike the discount paid on each transaction.

rebates initially cumulated as accruals , after end of the rebated validity period it will be paid to the customer if the payer meets specific conditions maintained in rebated agreement.

Note: rebate payment can be done during the rebate period.

Rebate is like Credit given to Customer not necessarily for any Sales.

The important difference between Rebate and discount is that Rebate is is a kind of reimbursement where as Discount is expenses
