Hi,
I'm making a copy homogeneous, but the option "database Id and database host"
and "database specific tools" is not appear. and need you only "central instance export".
the sapinst has already run several times, and no where have these variables.
thank you very much.

Hi.
run. /sapinst SAPINST_USE_HOSTNAME =hostxxxx in CI
and shows that the result is successfully, but does not create
files, just create empty ABAP folder and file LABELIDX.ASC
and not the normal structure.
must create a structure like this:
APPS
LABEL.ASC
LABELIDX.ASC
SDM
SOURCE.PROPERTIES

OK, the same thing happened to me and this is how I fixed it:
1) For the DB Export, I had to use the "sapinst SAPINST_USE_HOSTNAME=<virtual name of DB Host>" parameter. Finished successfully and produced all the DB export files.
2) For the CI Export, I logged on to the CI server and just executed sapinst with no hostname parameters. That is when I saw the "Use Database Specific Tools" option -- which I did not select, and the CI export produced a Java dump to the export directory.
For DB export and CI export, I create seperate directories.
Hi.
you're right, but what is strange is what it is performing.
really do not have that size, I do follow the process and everything was executed
with R3load and is the size of a normal export of our database.
must create a structure like this:
APPS
LABEL.ASC
LABELIDX.ASC
SDM
SOURCE.PROPERTIES
and was not created.
best regards.

The Central Instance export should not include a DB export, because that is a separate step in the process.
In fact, in the description for the DB export step, it specifically states "You do not need to perform this step if you use database-specific backup/restore methods"
Is it possible that your Java system and SDM have 85 GB worth of files in them? My typical Java export is around 2-3GB...
Hi
actually, I already run process, and the result was that exports all database and I missed
the java files not being generated. said that although the process ended successfully.
strange thing is that this process takes many hours in production and export all database, export directory with
a size of 85GB.
that is why we need to just copy the part that I ask.
I probe with 2 installation master.
the manual and the examples that I have reviewed, the option "database specific tools" always appears.
when you run the process, ask me:
- profile directory
- jre directory
- database export directory
- export for targe system
source syste
database id
database host
source db
source os
targe system
export setting
split str file
-splitting tool parameter
-general upload settings
- before export start
database statistics (update statiscs before)
program call... brconnect -u/.....
thank you for reply.

Okay, from that path I can see you are still in the export phase, which is only exporting instance paramaters, settings, and will generate a Java dump for the target system. This is not going to export database data.
Do not worry about not having a "database specific tools" option here. It is not supposed to be there. This step will only export system parameters, settings, and will generate a Java System Migration dump for you which you will use in the Target System Installation phase.
Once you complete this step, then you go onto the target system, and run SAPINST with the following path:
SAP ERP 6.0 >
Software Life-Cycle Options >
System Copy >
Oracle >
Target System Installation >
Distributed System ...
In there you will be presented with the option to either use the homogenous system copy tools, or database specific tools.
I hope this helps.
Hi,
joey, I need to choose the option "use specificati database tool", as the restored database is off line.
according to what is in the installation manual, this option is mandatory if done off line backup and
need only the configuration abap + java
best regards.

In the export steps, you will not see the "database specific tools" option. You will only see that in the options for the target system installation step.

Please double check if you are using the correct mast cd, and also, do you use virtual hostname?
