Hi SAP Expert!

I would like to get some advice. We just installed the latest ST-A/PI 01M, and one alert object under Application Log > Application Log content caught our eyes.

Anyone has the expertise to configure this alert esp on how we can set alerts on "keywords" on the SLG1 log content?

If this alert is not what we imagine to behave or if anyone has the knoweldge, please kindly help to advice.

Thank you!

Best Regards,

Bee Huang

Dear Bee Huang,

You can find all details how to do the configuration of thie Application Log Monitoring in following document:

www.service.sap.com/bpm -> Technical Information ->

Setup Guide - Business Process Monitoring -> Chapter 4.3.8 Application Log

You can also review chapter 4.3.4.3.9 Job Log Content which has similar funcoinalities when evaluating thecontent of the entries in Application Log.

In general, all background informatiuons required to setup a monitoring object are described in the BPMon SEtup session, in the grey areas on the right screen-side for each of the monitring objects.

I hope this helps you further,

With kind regards,

Marta

Hi Bee Huang

As you expect, application log monitor is the function to monitor

the entry that you can see in the SLG1.

But the functionality check the number of related entry in SLG1

by using message class/ message number.

As of SPs23(ST-SER 2010), you can also check the variable of certain

application log.

For example, if the certain message class/message number use some

variable figure depending on the result, you can retrieve the number

for alerting.

for example, message class ABC and number 123 use 2 variable in the

log message like following, you can check the raised number of

variable 1 and 2. And you can set threshold value to the variable 1.

&1 line items have error. And &2 documents has error as a total.

Let's say if the &1 is more than 10, yellow alert. And more than 20 red.

And &2 is more than 5, yellow alert. And more than 10, red alert.

To you this function, select "Appl. Log Content" at Alert Types tab.

But as I describe it only check variable. So it cannot check other

text like "line items have error".

I hope this information help your understanding and fulfill your

requirement.

By the way, above function is also available to background job monitoring.

If you use job log monitoring, you can also check the variable of

job log message.

Best Regards
