DB traces

Hi experts,

I was searching for traces and got this link. my doubt is Starting the Database Trace, i saw this in the link. but there were no t codes. they just given the below line. where should i search for these options on menu. please don get annoyed if my doubt is dumb. am a novice in sap. trying to learn.

1. In the context menu of the database, choose Database- Trace - Options...

2. Select the trace options.

Hi,

Are you sure you want to enable a database trace and not a SQL trace ? That link you posted is not a SQL trace.

A database trace is more low level and used to determine actual problems with the database software. If you want to determine issues in SQL on the database you can use MaxDB's command monitor - DB50. You can also run a SQL trace in SAP using ST05 which records all SQL data before it gets converted to native SQL.

Either way, some knowledge is required of the underlying system.
