Dispatcher running but unable to connect to message server

Hi all,

I have installed ECC 6.0 EHP 4 on MAXDB 7.7.

After doing post steps and installing license I did local client copy, client copy stuck in between and I noticed that session hanged so I opened a new session and found that I was not able to run and t-code and and unable to login to the server although login screen appears( Login process continues but no result).

I realized the data or log directory may be filled up, so I checked and that was not the issue.

So I restarted the Server.

Now I am unable to see the login screen too and in SAP MMC dispatcher is yellow "Running but not connected to message server".

I am new to MAXDB database.

I installed database manager and checked the data folder status and find there is enough free space but log directory is 100% so i created new volume for log directory (not sure if any thing else is required to activate it, asl its still showing log directory 100% usage).

Hi,

sounds like DB LOG full?

If this is a new installation, you probably are not able to backup the logs as you have no full backup yet.

Make a Full Backup, make a Log Backup, try again.

Hi,

Please take a full log backup first inorder to clear the log area. Then stop database.

configure auto log writer in maxdb and start the database. This will keep on writing the log to disk once log area is full.

As your R3trans -d output showing some issue so there may be issues with db connect. In Oracle, I have seen this issue with ora account getting locked and had to unlock the same from SQL prompt.

Can you please paste the outputs of trans.log ?

Hi All,

Thanks for the responses.

And Sorry for replying late on this as I was stuck in it and I referred help.sap.com and installed SAP Database Manager.

I have created the log directory as I found it was showing 100% but even after creating the new log volume status was still same.

I didn't did anything else just restarted the machine and after restart SAP is working fine and in SAP database manager Log file is now at 0% usage.

Although R3trans result is still same.

When you perform R3trans -d there will be a trans.log file get created, can you please paste the contents?

also paste the environment variables.

What is the location of tran.log file that is created by r3trans -d command, is it "D:\usr\sap\trans\log".

Envirnoment Variable are as below.

DBMS_TYPE = ada

PATH = D:\usr\sap\DEV\SYS\exe\uc\NTAMD64

SAPEXE = D:\usr\sap\DEV\SYS\exe\uc\NTAMD64

JAVA_HOME = C:\j2sdk1.4.2_17-x64

The trans.log should be created under same location from where you are running R3trans -d
