Hi,
A friend once demonstrated to me on SP9 that a more detailed
logging can be switched on by putting an empty file named
DEBUG under the MI directory. Then smart synchronization
traces are put inside .debug folder with .sync, .data and
so on sub folders in it which will contain detailed logs
specific to every smart snyc packages.
I found it very helpful in troubleshooting especially with
synchronization problems since I just have to look on .sync
directory for containers and/or per syncbo data logs.
I tried the same trick in SP9 later versions but it doesn't
work. Im just wondering if this "easter egg" (was it?)
is still there or removed or the marker had just been changed??? or whatever. Any idea? MI developers???
I really like that tracing functionality. It saved me time
in searching for the cause.
Thanks in advance,
Maverick
hello maverick,
im quite surprised you knew about this stuff!
anyway, this SmartSync layer detailed tracing feature in
SP9 is not available from SP10 later. there was a major
re-implementation of MI for performance considerations.
the tracing guideline for NW was also imposed on MI.
thus, it was removed.
i know that it is very difficult to look for specific info
from a very long trace file. i think that you can use the
J2EE log viewer for your trace files. you will be able to
filter lines according to severities, date/time and so on.
it will make your search easier.
regards
jo
