Not able to launch debugger from NWDS. can not connect to the server..

Hi Experts,

I was trying to debug my Java DC's. Accessing the NWDI track for Utility customization. I am getting the error when launching the debugger.

Put the server and sdm into the debug mode.

1) In NWDS-> Debug mode-> trying to debug as ->remote java application---is this correct?? or debug as J2ee application or runtime workbench

2) Debug as -Remote java application -> under connect given the correct Host and debug port 50221 of the server, but when i click on the debug button then status bar is comingstablishing the connection..................and hang here. not able to connect to the server.. any idea??

3) i waited lon hour but no luck... Where i can check log of this??

Please suggest me on this.

Hi,

I am getting this exact same situation.

I have tried using the jdb command but when I enter the cursor moves to the next line and blinks forever.

Not sure whoat to look vor next.

If you have a solution please let me know.

Hi Narpal,

1.

1.4.2_09 is a very old JDK for a 700 EHP1 SP7 NWDS.

I kindly ask you to apply a newer one and try to reproduce the problem with that one.

2.

You may also try the following command in order to be sure that it is

possible to connect with debugger to the Engine.

jdb -connect com.sun.jdi.SocketAttach:hostname=<your server hostname>,port=5<instance number>21

You find the jdb executable in <your jdk installation>/bin folder.

Please copy paste the output of this command here.

I believe replacing the JDK can help to resolve the problem.

1) I have upgraded to the JDK 1.6.0_20 but still no luck...

Fatal error:

When i have used the port 50237 then there is not out put--- just curser is blinking...on next new line(seems hang or trying to connect). i used 50237 because we have changed the port from 50221 to 50237.. i can see debug port 50237 in J2ee engine view in NWDS.

do not use JDK 1.6 because it is meant for higher releases.

Your NWDS is:

NWDS version Version: 7.01.07

I suggest you to take the currently highest JDK1.4 version and try again.

Hi Narpal,

right after finishing the debuggin, there's a red icon in the toolbar to disconnect the previous debug session, and there's also a button called 'remove all terminated launches'. Could you please confirm that you cannot do debuggin for the second time if you ensure before that you have cleaned up the debug view using these buttons?

Hi ,

Yes we are using this option suggested by you, but still we are not able to debug. For Remote java application we are not able to debug even first time.

wea re getting this error. "Failed to connect to remote VM. Connection refused."

Hi Narpal,

please have a look at the note:

This also includes some screenshot attachments how to set up the debugging.

Further, please ensure that the port 50221 is available. For this you can use the command "netstat -a" (the usage can be slightly different depending on the OS you are, but you can use the help of this command if you are not familiar with it).

Hi,

I have applyed the note suggested by you.. seems that from server side every thing is fine. somewhere probs is with NWDS side. Because i have created one webdynpro java project -with just test application as testaap and blank component(have ntot written any code onle default view with default taxtview in that). I have not put any bebug point in this. When i tryed to debig this.. it's work fine.. i was able to manage the SDM password screen and after giving the SDM user ID password, it deployed successfully.

When i have created one taxt box and one button in this program and put 1-2 debug point then its not working.. hang after clicking on the Debug button. Seems that first time when i am debugging then working fine but after that giving error second time.
