Error starting sap after kernel update

Former Member

Dear all,

I did a kernel update on a SAP ERP 6.0 EHP4 ready, on windows 2008 64 bit - DB2 9.7 on VMWare environment.

After kernel update, SAP could not be started with error sapcpe.exe could not be started because of sidebyside error.

I've followed note 1375494 and install Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Service Pack 1 Redistributable Package.

But i still got that error.

Please help. Thanks.

Dear Fendhy,

Follow http://www.saptechies.com/sap-system-does-not-start-after-applying-sap-kernel-patch/

after that restart your system should work fine.

Dear all,

My installation sequence before was:

1. Install Windows Server 2008 x64 and conduct live windows update after that

2. Install SAP

3. Update kernel - failed, then i install latest VCredist. But its work. I dont know why, the VCRedist cannot update the Visual C Library. In directory Winsxs, i still could not found VC80 4053 that needed by SAP Kernel 7.01 patch 94.

So i tried to change my installation sequence

1. Install Windiws Server 2008 x64

2. Install latest VCredist, check in Winsxs directory, its already updated

3. Live Windows Update

4. Install SAP

5. Update Kernel

Its works.

Thanks.

Hello,

you probably can solve the problem with these two notes:

684106 - Microsoft runtime DLLs

1402510 - Resolving SideBySide Assembly Errors

Hello,

"4053" is the patchlevel of the ATL patch from Microsoft. You find the

package here:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=766a6af7-ec73-4

0ff-b072-9112bab119c2&displaylang=en

Download and install the correct patch for your platform.

The the SAP executables should be "executable". You can test by starting

disp+work.exe from command line.

Make sure you install the correct library, for 64bit the 64bit one (x86_64), not the x86 one.
