We have recently applied SP 8. The shopping cart started giving the error "SRM Product ID is longer than the Customizing setting allows" I have changed the Product ID lenght to 40 (earlier it was 18) and the issue got resolved. But what is the correct resolution for this issue. We are on SRM 7.0 with classic.
Thanks
Sanjeeva
This seems to be a bug in support pack you ve applied. This issue was not there at least till support pack 5. Push SAP to release a program correction asap to sort out your issue.
Your Material length config should be exactly same in ECC and SRM.

Hello,
Implement note 1449146.
It should solve the issue.

Hi
Did you check the box leading zero?
create one oss note and confirm the same.
it is due to some web front this error.
the below note is not applicable for you.
normally product id 18 converted into 40 character by FM and it stored in bbp_pd as 40 character.
how in bbp_pd really stores 18 or 40 ..
is it comes from PDP ?
Note 1171545 - Product Id of incorrect length freezes the contract screen
Symptom
The user creates a contract and manually input the product id incorrectly.
That is with a length longer than set in the customizing at
Transaction SPRO -> Supplier Relationship Management -> Master Data ->
Products-> Define Output Format and Storage Format of Product IDs
The system issues the message:
"Product ID is longer than the Customizing setting allows"
Other terms
PRODUCT_ID, ORDERED_PROD, BBP_CTR_MAIN, Product Id, length
Reason and Prerequisites
Program Error
Solution
Please implement the corrections in the note or the relevant support pack.
