All,
We have done all the required configurtaion in SOCT, Background job scheduled, Forward Workitem set, SO16 config done. Also I checked the consistency by BBP_BP_OM_INTEGRATE and its all green
Still approval email is not triggering at all.
We are in SRM 7.0 with extended classic scenario.
Has anybody faced this issue before.

What job did you scheduled??? You need to schedule /SAPSRM/OFFLINEAPPROVALSEND to send emails and /SAPSRM/OFFLINEAPPROVALGET to process the inbound emails from inbox..
Also before that do you see any mails in SCOT Outbox?? if not please check the SAP inbox of that user for workitem notification first..

did workitem generated and can you see them in SOST transaction.
