Network connectivity when user is in citrix

Hi all,

I had one doubt. If we want to test the connectivity from the users we can ask the users to do a telnet to the dispacther ports right. If suppose they are not on the client network then how will they able to do the telnet from their network to client network as they use citrix to login into sap.

Please correct if i am wrong. In case there is any other way to find the network connectivity.Thanks.

Hi Ambrish,

Hope you know SAP - CITRIX evnrioinment.

Normal Envroinment:

SAP System -

> SAP GUI (End user deskptop) - Connected via the network (using dispatcher port). In this case we can telnet to the dispatcher port.

With CITRIX Envroinment:

SAP System -> CITRIX Server - Connected via the network (using dispatcher port).

SAP GUI also installed in the CITRIX server.

CITRIX server -

> End User Desktop - Connected via the network (using terminal access).

In CITRIX envroinment, if you are not able to connect to SAP, first check the connectivity between the CITRIX and your local desktop(check CITRIX server access) and then check the connectivity between SAP system and CITRIX (telnet dispatcher port).

Hope it is bit clear.

JP.

Hi Ambarish,

Could you confirm what exactly you mean by testing connectivity. That is you want to check whether you are able to access the system or not. Normally if the ports are already open and still not able to access the SAP servers then you can check by pinging the servers (If ping is enabled) or if you are able to ping the server but not able to login then in that case we need to check by doing telnet to the ports. Also, we can use tracert command followed the target IP to see where actually it is getting blocked.

While coming to Citirx, it is a place where you can place all your application and allow access to resources for people working outside the client network. Similarly SAP GUI will be placed through which we can login to SAP. If you are able to login then its working other wise there some network issue. But still if you want to check by telnet in citrix then what I can suggest is to place the command prompt (cmd) available as one of the citrix resource through which it can be checked. But, again it all depends on network configuration and restriction. Better check with the Citrix and network guys.
