API method getHashedPassword()

Hi experts,

I actaully try to get the hash string of a users password using the API method getHashedPassword(). The problem is that this method always returns NULL.

Can anyone tell me if he or she has used this method successfully and if there are any prerequisites I have to pay attention to.
