Hi guys,
I am a beginner in BO coming from other BI Tools (mainly MicroStrategy). From a BO point of view whcih is the best approach when designing dimensional star schemas underlying BO universes:
1) Flattened denormalized dimension
2) Partially snowflaked
3) Totally snowflaked (100 % normalized)
In case of MSTR the recommended approach was the 2). Which is the option that you would recommend in BO?
Thanks a lot,
Alfons
Hello,
There are lot of differences between Business Objects and MicroStrategy. If you have pure Star model, then Designing a universe will be more easy. You can use any of the models, but there are very good features like Contexts, Aliases and Universe Parameters to resolve many of the issues.
Enjoy your designing.

MS works better when certain design criteria are followed on the database side. Business Objects really doesn't have a preference, so you can work with your DBA / design team to come up with the most efficient design for your needs. A universe can be built against any of the three options you provided.
