Connecting different SAP systems on different network

Hello Folks

Sorry for this newbie question.

My question is

- Can SAP Systems ( Let's say an ECC system and a CRM System ) on different networks ( with public IPs - We are using them only for training purpose ) be connected together without running any special processes ?

Thanks

Siva

Siva,

Another note....

Some features (such as SSO) will appreciate the source and target systems being on the same domain. You may want to do a little work configuring ecc.your.domain -> Public1 and crm.your.domain -> public2.

Hello Siva,

SAP can connect over any IP address, however you need to watch out for IP filters at Operating System Level and network level.

It's quite possible (and is normally the case) that your public and private networks are seperated via firewalls.

In this case depending on which side of the firewall your SAP server is on, you may have problems connecting to SAP, but these problems are generally at network level, so in your case if your ECC and CRM on different networks but you are using a public IP.

Make sure that port numbers of the range 36$$, 32$$, 33$$ etc are opened by your firewall team on those public IPs as SAP would normally connect on these ports.

To understand which ports should be enabled please use the following links:

Also, to read more about how SAP connects internally with other SAP and NON SAP systems its worth reading the Ne[Network Security Guide|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70ehp1/helpdata/en/fe/a7b5386f64b555e10000009b38f8cf/frameset.htm]

Hope that helps.
