Integration of FICA with Funds Management

Hi All,

We are currently working on implementing FICA with Funds Management for a Utilities client. Client currently has IS-PS & ERP implementation already in place and that is their system of records. Hence, we are implementing Utilities module as a separate instance and will transfer the G/L & Funds Transfer data in nightly batch. My question is regarding the scope of Funds Management. Because the instance we are implementing is not their system of records hence, we are planning to activate Funds Management partially (particularly FMDERIVE).

Hence, we will be creating basic funds master data and will use FMDERIVE to derive the funds related data for Utilities transactions. We are not planning to activate BCS, Former Budgeting or AVC in Utilities instance.

Could you please let me know if the approach we are following will work and will not cause any issues in future if we decide to activate BCS etc..?

Thanks,

Durgesh.

Hi,

There is no problem in this concept. If, for techincal reasosn, you require activation of FM, you can do it even without actual budget management in the system. You just have to consider if you would manage the budget in the future and based on this factor, define 'real' FM objects or just dummy ones. If you defined dummy objects and afterwards decide to switch the budget management, you might encounter reassignment problems with your current data.

Eli
