I am trying to install a dialogue instance on a separate server than my database. The database/central instance is abap only on a HP-unix/oracle server. The dialogue instance is on a Linux/oracle server. Shouldn't i be abele to do this. When I am running SAPinst I am receiving the following error:
SAP system VED does not have a central services (SCS) instance. SOLUTION: For this installation option you first have to install the SCS instance.
This is the first time we are trying this on separate hardware os type. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Tania
Have you shared your /sapmnt/<SID> filesystem from you CI/DB system to the Dialog system ?
Thanks,
Naveed

Another reason for getting this message is that you may have Java-Stack related parameters in your instance profiles. Installation tools check for them and try to find the SCS, though you don't have it anymore.
You can see a list of these paraemters in SAP note 741289. Just comment those lines from the profile and try sapinst again.

Did anyone confirm the solution for this? I'm seeing the same issue however, I have shared the /sapmnt/<SID> and have plenty of space available on it. Additionally, i don't have an SCS instance and I don't want one.
any help is greatly appreciated.
