Dear all,
I have upgrade DB patch from 10.2.0.2 to 10.2.0.4 , and then i have run Automatic DB parameter script (parameter_check_102) from ST04 .
Now my question is Shall i implement new db parameter as per output of automaic db parameter script.
or any precaution i have to do before new db parameter upgrade.
Kindly advise
Dear All,
AIX , ECC6.0, Oracle 10.2.0.4.
I have upgraded only 0racle patch set (10.2.0.4),
Shall i implement new db parameter as per output of automaic db parameter script. or First i should install SAP_102045_201009_AIX after that i have implement new db parameter as per output of automaic db parameter .

Dear all,
I have checked Current Opatch version is
SAPDEVQA:oraird 3> cd /oracle/IRD/102_64/OPatch
SAPDEVQA:oraird 4> pwd
/oracle/IRD/102_64/OPatch
SAPDEVQA:oraird 5> opatch version
Invoking OPatch 10.2.0.4.3
OPatch Version: 10.2.0.4.3
OPatch succeeded.
SAPDEVQA:oraird 6>
1, first i should install Opatch (OPatch_10205_Generic_v0.zip on Oracle_home).
2, secondly i Sholud install MOpatch (mopatch-2_1_4.zip in Oracle_home).
3, Finally i should install SAP_102045_201009_AIX.zip .
The above procedure is correct ?
Kindly advise ,
Hello Sathees,
If you read the note I gave in the previous post, it clearly states the new patching strategy followed by SAP as of 10th May 2010. As of that date all Opatches are being delivered in a bunch as SBP or SAP Bundle Patches.
Here is some text from the SAP Note
Change to the patch release strategy
This affects only UNIX and Linux platforms. Windows platforms are not affected.
As of the patch day (May 10th, 2010), Oracle database patches for UNIX platforms are provided only as SAP Bundle Patches (SBP).
An SBP contains the following:
The current Patch Set Update (PSU).
SAP-specific single patches and merge patches that are required, but not contained in the PSU (in particular, the current SAP-specific optimizer merge patch).
README.html: SBP README and installation instructions
bugs_fixed.html: SBP patch history
SBPs are cumulative; that is, the next SBP contains all patches of its predecessor plus the newly-added patches.
For the required prerequisites (for example, required MOPatch and OPatch versions) and other information, see the current SBP README.
Advantages of SBPs:
Integration of PSUs with SAP-specific Oracle patches.
Simple installation using MOPatch support.
The most recent two SBP versions (that is the current version and the predecessor version) are provided on SAP Service Marketplace; this is the same as for Windows patch collections.
Consequences:
For Oracle Version 10.2.0.4.0, as of the patch day mentioned above, no new versions of the CBO merge patch will be provided.
Due to SBPs, the installation of CPUs is obsolete. As a result, CPUs are no longer provided.
A CPU is always contained in the relevant PSU and, as a result, also in the relevant SBP. You cannot install a CPU and an SBP at the same time.
The bottomline to me is: SBPs are cumulative patches.. so I do not think there is any need to implement indiviual patches for Opatch or MoPatch as SBP should have it within. However as always the guideline is, please read the note and implement as per the README file attached in SBP.

Siddhesh

Now my question is I have use OPatch or MOpatch for Installing SAP Bundle Patch .
I have checked SAP Note : 1027012 .
the above note is mentioned
1. Important Terms and Notations
Patch Base Directory.
Patch Source Path.
Patch Basename.
Need some clarity on the above points.
/bin/sh $ORACLE_HOME/MOPatch/mopatch.sh \
-v -s patch-source-path
let me know the above steps are correct?
Regards
Sathies
Hi,
From the old posts of this thread, you have already got most of the answers from friends.
Patch Base Directory. (its working directory for MOpatch.. the readme files with documentation mode (optional activity in applying SBP on oracle using mopatch) are generated in this directory from where u have run $ORACLE_HOME/MOPatch/mopatch.sh -v -d -s patch-source-path
Patch Source Path.
Its a path pointing to SBP zip file location which MOpatch will consider for patching.
Patch Basename.
The patch basename consists of the patch file name and, if the patch file contains more than one patch, of an additional molecule ID. (refer SAP Note 1027012)
The detailed information about above terms are well described in that SAP Note 1027012. Read them slowly & carefully. Also you can get all these information from last mopatch run log file. Verify last mopatch run log file located at $ORACLE_HOME/cfgtoollogs/mopatch
e,g. $ORACLE_HOME/cfgtoollogs/mopatch/mopatch-2010_09_10-15-34-23.log
/bin/sh $ORACLE_HOME/MOPatch/mopatch.sh -v -s patch-source-path
let me know the above steps are correct?
Yes its correct command syntax.
The simple flow of applying SAP Bundle Patch using Mopatch would be:
1. Get latest SBP, SBP's Readme File, OPatch, Mopatch from SMP.
2. Take backup of existing $ORACLE_HOME & Oracle Database (Offline Backup recommended)
3. Update OPatch , MOpatch
4. Stop SAP system, Stop Oracle Listner processes, any other processes which still uses $ORACLE_HOME
5. Refer Readme file of SBP which u are going to apply to perform all required pre-activities.
6. Sufficient Space around 7 GB should be there in $ORACLE_HOME
7. Go to MOpatch directory & Apply SBP using mopatch utility with the above mentioned command.
8. Refer Readme file of SBP to perfrom Post-Apply actions for each patch.(must be performed)

Bhavik G. Shroff
Hi,
As you have updated the patch of the same DB version (oracle 10g), u can go ahead and implement the DB parameters as per the * SAP Note 830576 - Parameter recommendations for Oracle 10g*.

Dear Yoga,
Thanks for your mail .
How can i update the below db parameters.
event (10027) add with value "10027 trace name context forever, level 1"
event (10028) add with value "10028 trace name context forever, level 1"
event (10411) add with value "10411 trace name context forever, level 1"
event (10629) add with value "10629 trace name context forever, level 32"
event (14532) add with value "14532 trace name context forever, level 1"
The below systax is correct .
ALTER SYSTEM SET EVENT='10027 trace name context forever, level 1','10028 trace name context forever, level 1',.......SCOPE=SPFILE;
Kindly advise
Hello,
Yes, please check the below format also:
alter system set event='10027 trace name context forever, level 1',
'10028 trace name context forever, level 1',
'10142 trace name context forever, level 1', scope=spfile;
You can just save all the required parameters with recommended values in a text file with extension as .sql, then place the file under any of the directory like /oracle/<SID>/.sql and then login into sqlplus as sysdba and the run it as @.sql.
For example if you have a file under /oracle/<SID>/parameter10g.sql then go to this path and login into DB as said above and run @parameter10g.sql

Kindly suggest
satheesh, you must also install post-fixes on top of ORacle 10.2.0.4. These are important. what is your OS?
try this command, you had one comma too many before the word scope:
alter system set event='10753 trace name context forever, level 2','38087 t
race name context forever, level 1','10183 trace name context forever, level 1',
'10027 trace name context forever, level 1','10028 trace name context forever, l

e name context forever, level 100','38085 trace name context forever, level 1','
44951 trace name context forever, level 1024' scope=spfile;
Hello,
Below format will work,
alter system set event='10753 trace name context forever, level 2',
'38087 trace name context forever, level 1',
'10183 trace name context forever, level 1',
'10027 trace name context forever, level 1',
'10028 trace name context forever, level 1',
'10411 trace name context forever, level 1',
'10629 trace name context forever, level 32',
'14532 trace name context forever, level 1',
'10091 trace name context forever, level 1',
'10142 trace name context forever, level 1',
'38068 trace name context forever, level 100',
'38085 trace name context forever, level 1',
'44951 trace name context forever, level 1024' scope=spfile;
You had extra comma before scope=spfile.

Patch 7155249 Bugs fixed: 7155249
Patch 7155248 Bugs fixed: 7155248
These are part of the CPU or Critical Patch Upgrade. You need to evaluate and apply the relevant OPatches patches that are applicable to your environment.
Regards,
Siddhesh
Hello Sathees,
The interim patches I listed before were part of the CPU pack which was SAP's strategy before, as of now this strategy has changed, and you get SBPs, so you need to follow the SBP strategy now.
You are already half way through with patched Opatch and MOPATCH.
PS: I think you have spent enough time discussing over the same information again and again I suggest that you take a full Oracle offline backup of your database, also take a full filesystem backkup and get on with your patching and see how it goes, cause its anyways your QA system, if you see any issues you can raise an OSS call to have it fixed.
Regards,
Siddhesh
Dear Eric/Team,
