Time out while closing Maintenance cycle- Is there background option?

Hi,

We are closing the maintenance cycle/ task list for a ChaRM project which has good number of Correction documents and Transport requests under it. While trying to close/ complete the task list it terminates by timing out. The dump suggests to increase a system parameter from 1800 seconds to more (or) to execute the process in background.

Is there a way to complete the closing of the task list in background?

If yes, how? what are the steps?
