Hi there,

I am getting a stuped error (cant open file. not a win32 file...etc).

I want to install supportpackages and of cours first the SAPAM ( SAPKD64038 SPAM/SAINT Update - Version 640/0038).

1) My problem when use: SAPCAR -xvf <file name> it does work. And I think I have the wrong SAPCAR.

Where can I have the right one if I have: MS SQL, windows Server 2003.

All the SAPCAR I dowloaded does not work.

2) Where can I find the right: SAP Kernel (exe- Programs)?

Thanks in advance

Best regards

HanseAtik

hi,

you can get sapcar from /usr/sap/>SID>/SYS/exe and then try to uncar. It should work.

With Regards,

Lata.

Hello Lata,

Regarding the error "SAPCAR -xvf <filename>.CAR -

> processing archive <filename>.CAR .... format error in header",

it seems this was caused by the <filename>.CAR, instead of the sapcar executable.

To verity this, could you please try this:

1. create a tmp folder and copy some files(2 or 3) to this folder.

2. also copy the sapcar.exe to this folder.

3. go to this folder with a CMD window and issue the following command:

D:\tmp>sapcar.exe -cvf testfile.sar *

(this is used to compress all the files under D:\tmp into an archive named testfile.sar.)

Does this work? if yes, then it shows the sapcar.exe is fine, but your <filename>.CAR file might be with a wrong format or

has been corrupted.

If it does not work, please let me know the result of the command.

Hi Hanse,

Instead of decompressing the files manually, u can uncar them automatically using SAPGUI (Frontend). Procede as follows.

Execute tcode SPAM in 000 client
Goto menu "Support Pakages" --> "Load Packages" --> "From the frontend"
Choose the file saved in the local machine from where u have logged on to the application. (U need to have the .SAR file in yr local machine)

This will uncar the files and then load them in EPS Inbox of that server. You can then continue applying the patches.

Hope this helps.

Hi Varadhu,

I tried to use this methode but I get an error message says: the "KDxxxxx.CAR" is not CAR or SAPCAR archive.

But I can see the file is CAR file....

That file might be corrupted, download it again and give it another try.

Hi,

its stuped but its.

I just downloaded the files again and tried but git the same problem. I just tried to update the SPAM first.

The file I downloaded are:

000001 View content info Create side effects report Add to download basket SAPKD64036 SPAM/SAINT Update - Version 640/0036

Support Package

000002 View content info Create side effects report Add to download basket SAPKD64038 SPAM/SAINT Update - Version 640/0038

When I use SAPCAR on command line I get the following:

SAPCAR -xvf <filename>.CAR -

> processing archive <filename>.CAR ....

format error in header

But the system is win32. Should be this a problem?

Best regards

Rahim

My problem when use: SAPCAR -xvf <file name> it does work

Im confused, does it decompress the file or not?... where do you get the error?

Anyhow, Simply go to SAP Marketplace and download the SAPCAR for the required OS, its not rocket science. 😄

Hi Juan,

No, it does not decompress the files.

Could you please write the direct link from where I can download it, so that I have the correct one.

Thanks in advance

Is your system 32 or 64bit?

Hi HanseAtik,

If you have a SAP system, then you can find the sapcar under the "exe" folder.

Or you can download the lastest one from:

http://service.sap.com/swdc

-> Support Packages and Patches

-> Search for Support Packages and Patches

Input "SAPCAR_2-10009100.EXE" in the "Search Term" field, then you wil get the link to download.

If you need other version/platform, please just seach "sapcar", and you will get a list.

Hope this helps you.

Hi,

I downloaded the the version you mentioned and tried to call SAPCAR.exe and got the following error message:

Windows can not access the specified device, path or file. You might not have the appropriete permissions to access the file.

The System is:

windows 32,

SAP R/3 Kernel 640_REL, (Kernel Patch number 155)

Database Client Library SQL_Server_8.00,

ICU Version 2.6.1 Unicode Version 4.0

Do I have any chance to continue with this sotware at all if its 32 bit?

The SAPCAR does not work and I need to install Supportpackages.

Thanks in advance

What user are you logged on as?... this should be a strait forward procedure

Windows can not access the specified device, path or file. You might not have the appropriete permissions to access the file.

Does the path to the files contain blanks and/or is fully accessible?...

Juan

Hi Hanseatik,

For 32bit windows, you can try to search and downlaod the following:

All of the following are for windows 32bit.

SAPCAR_0-10003694.exe SAPCAR

SAPCAR_2-10009100.EXE SAPCAR

SAPCAR_4-20000961.EXE SAPCAR

SAPCAR_4-20002090.EXE SAPCAR

and to extract the archive file, please use

"sapcar.exe -xvf <file path and name>"
