"Bad SQL" Statement to test Storage Devices ?

Hello,

i have a testmachine on VM-Ware ESXI 4.0 and i want to test serveral storage technologies with this system.

I want to determine the read/write performance differences between local ESXI Storage, SAN Storage with iscsii and SAN Storage with fibre Channel.

I made some tests direct on Windows 2003 level with hdtunes, but there are some strange results.

How can i test a direct read from a Netweaver 7.0 system to database with bybass the caches from database and SAP sytem ?

Thank you

Heiko

Hi,

try to design a test which always loads a different database record from the database.

Execute the tests after restart of the database and cleaning of the database cache.

Best Regards,

Sylvia

Hello Heiko,

There may not be a way to avoid database cache, accessing database directly bypassing SAP is possible with database tools for e.g SQLPLUS in Oracle database and SQL Query Analyser in MSSQL.
