Hi Mohit,

It's simple,

1. Install the share printer in Windows

2. Make as a default printer in Windows.

3. Create a print device in SAP for fronend printing by using SPAD ( )

Make sure the created device having Access Method "G: Front End Printing with Control Tech." and Host Printer "_DEFAULT"

Revert if you need more details.

Hi Prashanta,

Thanks for your reply, I did what you asked, but I am unable to save the configuration as it is not highlighted. Do I have less authorizations or what? I am using Basis Id. Please help.

Mohit, I had tons of problems configuring an old HP Laserjet 1100 printer that was connected through USB.

I finally bought an HP network card for that printer and problem was fixed. Note that I was using method "F" from SPAD. That was many years ago...

Try using method "G" which looks more stable and might also fix your USB printer issue.

Dear Eric,

I am using the same setting but now the main problem is that save option is not highlighting. Can you please help about that issue.

Hi Mohit,

Check with following:

1. Make sure you are creating a new device with unique name.

2. Analyze Su53 for further auth failure.

First of all as far as my knowledge goes you need to configure the printer in t-code SPAD.

Then you assign to the users as explained in the 2nd reply.

A step by step guide can be found in [Click Here|http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/Basis/HowtoConfigurePrinterin+SAP] and [SAP HELP Link|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/d9/4a8eb751ea11d189570000e829fbbd/frameset.htm]

I do not have access to SAP notes. But from the [SDN thread|] I have found this

"Note 1036961 - Device type selection wizard in transaction SPAD"

Hope it helps....

The said links were of great help but the printer is not listed in the printers list or you can say printer driver is not installed in SAP. How can I do that?

Hello,

If your users have this printer setted as their default printer at the OS do the following:

Go transaction SU10;

Set the users you want to print at this printer;

Select Change (Shift + F6);

Select tab Defaults;

Go to label Spool Control and fill the option Output Device with the value LOCL;

Flag the change box aside it.

It's done.

If they haven't this printer as default, then you gotta use SP01, presuming you already have the driver at SAP, otherwise, first intall the driver at SPAD transaction, and then after configure it at SP01.

Hope it helps anyway.
