Hey Web Dynpro Community,

we've got a requirement to develop a web calendar. so i wanted to have a look on th calendar ui elemnts of web dynpro java, which are missing in web dynpro for abap

i downloaded and installed the NetWeaver Developer Studio (715.874.878 bytes) on my client pc.

http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/downloads?rid=/library/uuid/d04ac7ef-0fe7-2c10-efb1-d27b38d730b3

in the programm i registered our system with java stack.

(window => preferences => SAP AS Java)

what else has to be set up in the NW Developer Studio?

because it doesn't work when i try to test a application by clicking on "Deploy new Archive and Run"

i always get this error:

-

http://xxxxxxx.intern:-1/webdynpro/dispatcher/local/WebDynpro_Quiz/QuizApp?SAPtestId=17

-

http://xxxxxxx.intern:-1/webdynpro/dispatcher/local/WebDynpro_Quiz/QuizApp?SAPtestId=17

Please also switch on the SAP MMC view (window -- show view -- other ... (J2EE engine view on other releases)).

Here you can always see whether you can reach the server.

Hey,

yes your right the parameter "-1" seems to be wrong.

i checked the instance of our system. the instance is "00".

so our port would be 50000.

and i am able to acces the index page over the following link: http://xxxxxx.intern:50000/index.html

the system in the developer studio which i registered is also registered with istance 00. but after registering the system there is only one "0" in the instance number field. do you think this could be a problem?

in the developer studio on my pc i cant find a J2EE option or similar in "window => show view => other ..."

so do i have to install something else, too?

i installed only the developer studio.

there is anohter download link in the link i posted in my first message.

Composition Environment (contains Java EE) (1.453.755.029 bytes)

do i have to install this also on my pc?

thanks!

Hello,

Your J2EE server. It is a CE server or NW07 server.?

NWDS available for CE will work only with CE not with the NW07 server.

Sarbjeet

Hi,

Your J2EE server. It is a CE server or NW07 server.?

NWDS available for CE will work only with CE not with the NW07 server.

NWDS CE is available of course for releases higher equal to 7.1

But of course earlier NWDS versions are available for 640 as well as for 700.

(the 640/700 versions are not using the update site mechanism, you can download them from the service marketplace)

@Marc: I believe this is not relevant for you as I saw you intend to use (as per the link provided in the initial entry) 7.1 versions.

See further clarification on this under

Best Regards,

Ervin

Hi,

can you please provide a screenshot

1. about the page (of your j2ee engine):

http://<host>:<port>/sap/monitoring/SystemInfo

2. about the settings you perform in your NWDS's preferences?

Thank you!

Hi,

the red DB is not ok, please achieve that the DB is operating properly, as far as I know you cannot trigger DB start from NWDS, so please turn to the administrator of your j2ee engine and ask them to make the DB work properly.

You can use the jcmon tool to figure out whether the DB is running properly, but your basis admin colleagues will know this.

If not, you can still look up "jcmon" on help.sap.com for further instructions.

Can you please also just copy paste here again the detailed error you face?

Thank you!

Ervin

Hi,

please also switch on both the views there: window -- show view -- other... -- SAP AG --

"SAP Management Console (results)" and "SAP Management console (view)"

They belong together. On the tree view you'll select some node of the engine, on the results view you can see the details what you have selected on the tree view.

You can also have a version where this is in 'window -- show view -- other ... plant connectivity management console' or

you can also switch on the corresponding perspective, the perspective calls "SAP management".

(window -- open perspective -- other -- sap management).

Hey,

our runnig NW-Version is 7.01.

Actually "Deploy new Archive and Run" throws the same error than at the beginning.

Ok I opened the SAP management Console.

When i select my System i can see two entires.

The first is the Datebase node which is red.

The second is "DVE... on xxxxx. intern" with the features "ABAP and JavaEE" and instance Number "0". This lamp is green.

So there is something wrong?

Hi Marc,

the 0 is fine. Even if you enter 01 it'll display only 1, so do not worry about that. If you can see in the j2ee engine view (or sapmmc) view that your engine is running (the lamps are green) then it should be fine.

The menu option in NWDS "Window -- show view -- other" must be available on all releases. You cannot find j2ee engine view, because on your release it is called sap mmc, or similar.

If you can display the engine in the mentioned view then I would say the problem is basically resolved, right?

Do you still face any deployment problem?

If you intend to change your NWDS, I rather suggest you this site depending on your release:

710 CE:

https://nwds.sap.com/swdc/downloads/updates/netweaver/nwds/ce/

711 CE

https://nwds.sap.com/swdc/downloads/updates/netweaver/nwds/nw/711/

720 CE

https://nwds.sap.com/swdc/downloads/updates/netweaver/nwds/nw/720/

Here you can log on with your customer user, download the software, install it, and then update it to have the SAP plugins.

Best Regards,

Ervin

Hi,

it looks you have entered a wrong port for the engine where you intend to deploy. See the "-1" in the URL.

Depending on the release, but I guess you need to specify the host (this one is obvious) and the central instance number.

From this value the port will be calculated (5xx00 where xx is the instance number). Your engine has been installed under:

<DRIVE>:\usr\sap\<system ID>\JC<instance number>.....

For the field instance number field enter only this number you can see in the name of the directory and try again.

I hope this helps!

Best Regards,

Ervin
