Hi,

I have done oracle patch upgrade from 10.2.0.2.0 to 10.2.0.4.0 and after that applied SBP 10.2.0.4.5.

Currently we have InstantClient 10.2.0.2.0 installed, Kindly let us know whether we need to install InstantClient 10.2.0.4.0 or 10.2.0.4.5 or there is no need to install/upgrade InstantClient?

Regards,

Gaurav

Hi,

The Oracle IC has to be updated if u r upgrading the oracle from one version to other (say 10g to 11g) but in ur case as u r already in the same version, u do not need to to update the Oracle IC.

Hope this clarifies you.

Hi,

But according to this note 819829 it says that oracle needs to be updated. Please correct me if i am wrong.

Oracle Instant Clients of release 10.2.0.4 are recommended at the time of this writing. Please install the latest instant client version of release 10.2.0.4 that is currently available on the Service Marketplace.

Hello,

Yes, you have to upgrade Instant client. Follow SAP Note 998004.

Also check below link.

Note: Oracle Instant client 10.2.0.2 is no longer supported. You have to upgrade to latest version available in SMP.

Please check for the latest IC and upgrade to that release.

Also check SAP Note 819829 for more details.
