Hello Experts,
We have a workflow designed for our Main table, which is used by our users whenever they create/update records in Data Manager or using Import maps.
The workflow is set to both Import and Manual triggers. When users do changes using Data Manager, they select the records and Manually add them to a Workflow Job using the context menu (Select Record -> right click -> Workflows -> Add to Job -> [Main table Workflow])
In the last 2-3 days the Add to Job menu item is disabled for our users when accessed from their local machines. However, the same is available when logged in from the server machine using the same User credentials.
I'm suspecting it could be a network related issue. Is there any specific port used by this functionality (or workflow in general) that needs to be opened? Even the previous workflow Jobs are not visible under the workflow tab from the local machine.
Also, for end users, is it required to install MDM's workflow component and MS Visio to use the workflow? I believe these two required only for the developer.
P.S. We are currently using MDM 5.5 SP06 (Build: 5.5.63.73)
Thanks and Regards,
Uday
Hi Uday,
at your endusers only MDM workflow component require to install to triggered the workflow, MS visio & MS workflow is require to developer, admin, specialist etc to designed & test workflow for business process

Hi Jignesh,
Thanks for your reply. I uninstalled all the clients for MDM (including Data Manager & Workflow), deleted any residual files and then just installed the Data Manager.
Even without installing the Workflow Component, I was able to see the workflow table and add records to a Workflow Job. The Add to Job was not disabled.
Moreover, our End Users were earlier able to add records to Workflow Jobs without any trouble. This issue has started in the last 2-3 days.
Have any of you faced a similar issue in the past. If so, how was it resolved.
Thanks & Regards,
Uday
Hi Uday,
You face such kind of issues with Workflow, if MDM Workflow component is no installed on the User's Machine or is incompatible to MDM server version. So, please retest after reinstalling MDM workflow component on user machine where you see this problem and revert with the result.
FYI, With MDM 7.1, MDM workflow component is inbuilt with MDM data manager and no need for seperate installation.
Best Regards,
Shiv
Hi Jignesh & Shiv,
Thanks for your replies.
Our end users installed the MDM Workflow component and now they are able to use the Workflow functionality.
However, I'm still surprised with the behavior I had experience on my machine. I had removed all MDM Clients and reinstalled only Data Manager. I had removed the residual files after uninstallation as well. Even without the Workflow component installed, I was able to execute the workflow.
I was even able to launch the MS Visio document from the workflow table. Just that the properties pane for the Workflow steps was not available. This came back after installing the MDM workflow component.
All the while I had the MS Visio installed on my machine (this is not available at end users machine). Does MS Visio play any role in executing workflows (NOT Editing)?
Thanks & Regards,
Uday
