Nice question

In period means the period in which you run payroll

For period : in some cases because of changes happen in to master data that is related with payroll in a previous month . system need to calculate that changes also in to account , so system will run payroll for that period in the current period

you are running payroll in march of 2010 the and you made *change in any of the master data related with payroll in February* .system will go for a retro run from February to include the changes in to payroll

Here the IN PERIOD is March because you are running payroll in March ,

You can see two result with same in period here, it is because this month payroll is running for this month as well for the previous month on which you made a change in this period

>For the run in March you can see two results

>For period February In period March ( for the retro )

>For Period March In period March ( the normal run)

for-periods are the individual target periods for retro re-calculation, whereas the in-peiod is the current period determined by payroll control record in which the retro arrears are to be paid.

Let me explain retroactive changes first. Suppose you pay employees monthly and Payroll Period 01 is January. You have already paid pay period 01 when an employee receives a salary increase effective January 1 moving salary from 1,000 to 2,000. When the payroll runs for February, you will see in the results tables:

For Pay Period 01 in pay period 02 a re-statement of January with updated amounts (2,000.00 salary)

For Pay Period 02 in pay period 02 the activity for February

In pay period 02, the salary paid will be:

1,000.00 the January increase in salary - for PP01.2010 in PP02.2010

2,000.00 the February salary amount - for PP02.2010 in PP02.2010

3,000.00 total salary paid
