TAO NT Naming Service failed to start

Former Member

HI,

When trying to upgrade to 8.8 we get an error message when the TAO NT Naming Services tries to start. It says "The applicaton has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. "

Reinstalling the SAP server services does not solve the problem. Does anyone know how to fix this configuration?

This server does not have any virus protection software running on it, so that is not the issue.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Mark

Hi Mark,

Does your license Server is  Started?

Check in Service Manager TAO_NT_Naming_Service does it has dependency with SAP B 1 License Manager.

Hi Mark,

There are quite a few threads discussing about TAO NT Naming Service issues. Have you gone through them all?

Thanks,

Yes. None of them talk about it not starting. Only how to get at thru Service Manager. The problem is the service manager will not start without it.

Hi Mark,

I did face the same problem.

What I did is:

- turn off firewall

-turn off antivirus

all still not solve.

then restart the server, everything go back normal and working well.

so, you can try restart your server to refresh every single service on server.

Hi Muhamad,

Possible Causes:

License Manager: Dependencies of SAP Business One License Manager to the  TAO NT Naming Service, in some cases Firewall settings might prevent running the TAO NT Naming Service.

RSP: Firewall might block TCP/IP and relevant port range when RSP agent is not included in the firewall policy list.

Solution

1. Check disabling the Firewall settings of relevant Virus scanner  software / Host Intruder prevention software (e.g. McAfee)

2. Restart the TAO NT Naming Service & SAP Business One License Manager  / Restart the SAP Business One RSP Agent Service

If the firewall is identified as the root cause, please review the firewall policy and settings.

Thank you,

Hari
