Hi Raj,

If you are planning to do a FILE to IDoc scenario you wouldn't need a SOAP adapter, except if you want to use a webservice and then send the result from the webservice in the form of a file!

A simple scenario of a SOAP adapter has been discussed in this weblog by Shabarish:)

Hi Raj,

I think i will give you some more information about SOAP adapters,So Please go through the link below and follow the steps mentioned in it while defining the web service. Then you will get to know the actual use of a SOAP adapter.

You can create SOAP Request from WSDL using the following tool.

You've to expose your outbound message interface as a WSDL which can be used by say EP.

Also go thru the following threads

Also check this Pdf for the Receiever SOAP Adapter configuration:

Hi Raj,

"I am not familiar with web service"...

If you want to get a clear idea, here's a link to a thread where a webservice has been explained in simple words->

Raj,

Like mentioned by others, If you are planning to use XI to connect to a Webservice, you need a SOAP Adapter.

But, if you are doing File to IDOC, you need an IDOC adapter.

Can you please explain what is it that you r actual requirement is?

Bhavesh
