Hi All,
I created a JDBC Driver and Custom JDBC Data Source in SAP Netweaver CE 7.2. After creating the status of JDBC Data Source was "Fully Available". But after refresh the status of the DataBase Source changed to "Failed to status".
Using Start and Stop Applications, I tried to start the DataSource. But status is still "Failed to status".
Details - "Cannot Create DataSource". I tried stopping the Server and starting the data source manually. But same error "Failed to start".
I tried deploying a webdynpro application with the same DataSource Name, getting an error
"com.sap.engine.services.jndi.persistent.exceptions720.NamenotfoundException:Object not found in look up of MaxDBJDBC".
How can i start the DataSource? What could be the error? Can anyone please help me out in this?
Thanks and Regards,
Divya
HI Divya,
Can you please describe how you solved the issue?

how you set the additional properties?
do you have a property called URL?
it should be url.
when i create ds connecting to oracle, i found that issue,
for maxdb ,it may be the same case.

Hi Divya
What do you mean here by saying "after refresh"? only refresh from the NWA or configtool ?
Or do you mean after a system restart?
If the datasource is fine but after the system restart, it is not startup automatically, then you probably need to set a filter for this
datasource, which you can refer to this:
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwce10/helpdata/en/43/7448c1d74e3457e10000000a422035/frameset.htm
Application startup can be managed by applying filters. Cluster-wide filters and instance-wide ones are stored at different levels in the configuration. Filters can be easily changed in the Config Tool.
The link if for 7.10 but should be similar in 7.2.
Also if it still fails maybe with trying manual restart, then you can check the lastest defaulttrace and paste the detailed here.

Hi Thunder,
Even after setting the filter in config tool and restarting the cluster did not work out. Later i deleted the DataSource which was created with 2x- XA support and created a DataSource with out 1x-XA Support. Then the Datasource started working.
What is XA support and what is the difference between xa and without xa support? Why is not my DataSource with XA support not getting started? When to use XA and without XA?
Pls guide me in this.
Regards,
Divya
Hi Divya
XA means "Cross Transaction", as far as I understandl
JDBC Version: 1x === > without XA support
JDBC Version 2.x ===> with XA support
XA support means "two-phase commit", you can just google "two-phase commit" go get more details.
Whether the JDBC datasource has "XA support" feature depends on the Database itself.
Hope this can be helpful for you.
Best Regards,
Thunder
Hi Divya,
Please review carefullty SAP Note 872060, check whether the settings for the JDBC driver are correct.
Ensure you have all the driver files in your system. The driver files are: base.jar, util.jar, sqlserver.jar and
spy.jar. Most importantly ensure you are using the correct JDBC driver (i.e notes 639702 and 1109274)
