Hi Kanna,

Kindly find solutions for your queries as below:

a. Company is maintaining its non SAP documents in the shared drive, the volume of these documents are nearly 2 lac. Now these documents have to be migrated to content server (SAP DMS Environment).

Solution: A separate content server is required with appropriate size. For migration needs a abap program for moving directly and at a time from one non-sap server to sap content server.

b. After migrating documents to content server how the user can use the old document as well as new documents in DMS envirnonment.

Solution : Same like new documents in DMS. It will creare DIR's for old as well as new documents. This is maintained in abap program which is said in above (a) solution.

b. In future, the client is planning to maintain all newly SAP DMS documents and non sap documents in the same Sap DMS environment. Is we have to provide separate spacing for the both or ...?. The end user has to have access to old and new documents. Is it possible?

Solution: No. All documents will be saved in same content server. Make a appropriate sizing of content server considering old as well as new data upto next five year.

Sap R/3 document has to be migrated to the content server.

a. Company is maintaining some documents in SAP R/3, (ie) The PO external documents are attached to the service objects which are in the PO.Now client needs these documents are to be maintained on SAP DMS. is it possible.

Solution : No. This is not feasible. Only documents uploaded thru SAP DMS can be stored and saved and accessed thru DMS. The external direct attachments to any other transaction or sap object can't be displayed thru DMS. There is feathure in DMS to check-in documents in content server. And the documents checked-in can be only displayed or accessed thru DMS. Other external attachement can't.

Hope this will very much helpful.

Yes, this possible. An initial sever sizing exercise(refer earlier posts in SDN) needs to be done and appropriate hardware, software needs to be setup. Once done, you may migrate based on your specific requirements through options such as BDC(developed by an ABAPer)/LSMW(Legacy Systems Migration Workbench)/Document loader from SEAL systems.

b. After migrating documents to content server how the user can use the old document as well as new documents in DMS environment.

Post migration, respective DIR's will be created in DMS for usage.

b. In future, the client is planning to maintain all newly SAP DMS documents and non sap documents in the same Sap DMS environment. Is we have to provide separate spacing for the both or ...?. The end user has to have access to old and new documents. Is it possible?

Can use a common storage location(refer 'Content Server Sizing' posts in SDN)

Possible but ot recommended. Explore using Archivelink solution for this scenario.
