Customising settings for Pallet

Hello Experts,

Currently the client using a 3rd party ware house system where in they have defined full pallet and partial pallet zones. While doing the put away, the system checks whether it is a full pallet or a partial pallet and accordingly the pallet is placed.

Is it possible to map this scenario in standard WM where in the system should check whether the pallet is a full pallet or a partial pallet and depending on that the material should be placed accordingly. Please throw some pointers on how this can be achieved.

Hi,

You can achieve the desired by using storage unit types. Define full and half pallet storage unit types, assign the storage bin to desired SU type. configure the storage unit search strategy, it should work fine.

Thanks for ur reply. But I doubt whether the standard would take care of the requirement as currently when the pallets arrive, they are identified as full or partial pallet and then put away accordingly. How do we identify at the beginning whether it is a full pallet or a partial? If it is possible, can you give little more details?

Hi,

It is possible to identify the full pallet through MM in WM2 view (LE Qty). I think you can achieve your requirement through following settings.

Define two storage types, one for full pallet zone and one for partial pallet zone.

For full pallet storage type, activate the SU type check.

maintain the full pallet as SU, define one SU type for 'full pallet'. Create one bin type for full pallet.

maintain the assignment of SU type to storage type and bin type to SU type.

for full pallet zone, create bins and assing the bin type (full pallet)

in WM2 view, maintain the full pallet qty and SU type.

Hi,

One of the way of achieving is by using base weight for two different bin types.

1. Create two bin types under the same storage type. (Assume base weight for B1=2B2)

2. Maintain proper gross weight of the material in the material master.

3. Maintain sequencing for these two bin types. Ie B1:B2 for bin search

Now, when the GR comes,

Base weight B1=50 kg, B2=100kg.

GR qty=51, Material weight=1kg, Total bin weight=51kg,

First searches B1 and skips as base weight is lesser than the incoming weight, next sequence would be B2 where Putaway takes place. Anything lesser than 50 putaway will happen to B1 due to first search sequence.

Thanks Ramanjaneyalu. But let me tell you the exact requirement with an example.

Currently the customer is using a 3rd party system where they have separate zones(equivalent of Storage type) for full pallet and partial pallet. Lets say full pallet zone as PS and partial pallet zone as PL.

Now currently if there is a goods reciept of 100 pieces and the pallet data is defined as 40 pieces/pallet. In this case 2 full pallets(40x2) goes to zone PS and the remaining 20 pieces goes to PL. The same material is placed in two different zones depending on whether it is a full pallet or a partial pallet.

Can this be achieved using standard WM?

Also please note that the same happens during picking also. That is if there is an outbound delivery for 100 pieces, then 2 full pallets(40x2) are picked from zone PS and the remaining 20 pieces are picked from zone PL.

Please give some pointers as to how this can be achieved both for putaway and picking.
