We have installed R/3 - ECC5.0, AFS 5.0 and BW 3.5 on AS400. We now want to install CRM5.0. We would appreciate answers to the following questions (points would surely be allotted):
1. Is Java stack mandatory on the AS400? If yes, should it be on a separate DB?
2. Should J2EE be installed on AS400 or Windows2003?
3. Is EP mandatory to run TREX?
Thanks in advance.
Hello Mani,
the SAP J2EE Engine is available on i5/OS as on all other platforms. In all implementations the SAP J2EE Engine comes with a database schema separated from the SAP ABAP Engine database schema. TREX is often used within Knowledge Management which is part of the Enterprise Portal as far as I can tell.
Best Regards, Chris.

Hi Mani,
Additional info, the SAP Portal is a purely J2EE install, it was released to run on iSeries Dec.2005. If you have a system with both an ABAP and a J2EE stack, they can run on the same iSeries or LPAR, but IBM recommends putting the J2EE in a separate memory pool for best performance. Check out IBM's new website "SAP J2EE on System i" at http://www-03.ibm.com/systems/i/solutions/sapj2ee/tuning.html for great info about running J2EE on iSeries.
Good luck,
