Partner functions are assigned to Accounts Groups for the purpose of controlling the functions they can perform e.g. Sold to party (Account Group 0001) can be a Ship to party , Bill to party or payer even, But you you will observe that you will not find partner function SP for Account Group 0003), which means that the ship to party cannot act as sold to party.

Therefore, if you assign a account group 003 only to a customer, he cannot be sold to party, however, a sold to party can be a ship to party.

ACCOUNT GRP PART FUNC

0001 SP MEANING SOLD TO PARTY

0001 SH CAN BE ALSO SHIP TO PARTY

0001 PY CAN BE ALSO PAYER

0001 BP CAN BE ALSO BILL TO PATY

0002 SH CANNOT BE SOLD TO PARTY (ONLY SHIP TO PARTY)

0003 PY ONLY PAYER

0004 BP ONLY BILL TO PARTY

In certain situation, sold to party could be different thatn ship to party or payer, which affects the calcultion of freight , taxes credit limit which are dependent on Ship to party and Payer and not on sold to paty.

I hope it is clear to you

Hi,

The assignment of the partner functions to account group is mandatory to get copied in the customer master. If u do not assign the partner functions to the account group while creating a customer u will not the get the partner functions and u will not be able to save the customer. If you have not done anyone of them you will get an error message while creating the customer xxxx belongs to a/c grp and so cannot be sp.Same is the case with the procedure also what ever the partner functions u have placed in the procedure will be copied into the customer master. So both of them are mandatory.

Ramesh.

Hi,

The account group is intended for which partner funtion it should be behave like

Suppose if it is sold-to-party, it has its own properties, which are different from ship-to-party etc.,

Coming to your question we mention required partner functions in account group means which are eligible for that account group and assign them in procedure which are used during sales document processing.

for example if you mention 10 partner functions in account group and procedure is defined for only 5 partner functions out of 10,

then you can see only those 5 partner functions during sales order processing.

I hope My answer will clear your question unless please let me know for more info.

Hi,

As you are aware Partner Functions are assigned to a procedure, which is assigned to an account group. Which means that if we are using a particular account group it will trigger the partner procedure assigned to it. Now the partner function assigned to the procedure will only determine which partners are to be mandatory and unchangeable. The system will come to know which partners are to be determined in the Customer Master only if partner functions are assigned to the Account Groups.

Hope this helps....

Hi,

for this reason we have to assign to account group.

When you create a master record for a business partner, you must enter an account group. The account group determines:

● Which screens and fields are necessary for entering master data

● Whether you can or must make an entry in these fields

● How master record numbers are assigned (externally by you or internally by the system) and the number range from which they are assigned

● Which partner functions are valid

● Whether the business partner is a one-time customer or one-time vendor

Additionally, for vendor master records only, the account group determines:

● Whether default purchasing data in the vendor master is to be transferred to article master records and purchasing information records
