Hi Deepak,

The latest installation guides for content, cache server are available on SAP Marketplace. You may download it based on the landscape(Windows/Solaris et-al). Further, the front end used is defined as PC, and for viewing the docs, SAP GUI(latest version) has a built-in ECL viewer. Client strategy is more specific, can provide inputs incase you provide details for the questions posted in earlier post above.

Hi Deepak,

There is unique user ID and password for each project in SAP Marketplace. You need to login with your project ID and password into SAP Marketplace. And then downlolad all the stuff related to installation like guides.

Hope this will help.

Hi Deepak,

For basis following steps are impprtant :

1. Calculate the volume of documents based on no,of generation per day, month , year and 5 years. Also consider the cut over data ( backlogue). This will help in content server size and installation.

2. Check bandwidth for various location if using multiple locations and install cache servers at respective locations from where documents will be uploaded.

3. Basis has to create roles and authorizations groups also as per functional consultants requirement.

Hope this will help much.

Hi Deepak,

For a vanilla flavor DMS implementation, some of the scenarios that a Basis consultant would be expected to work along are:

- understand customer's areas of operations/locations

- capture the average file size, nature of documents

- capacity of present R/3 system

- present network bandwidth,hardware/software setup

- backup and recovery plan

- content, cache server sizing and setup

The above points have been discussed in various contexts in DMS forum. A search on these lines will provide in-depth clarity.

Capturing requirements along these lines will help setup a robust and scalable environment.

P.S The above points are only indicative and not exhaustive.
