We are running into a real slowdown on 2004s SR1 SP7 Java AS (dual stack BI box). Specifically starting the J2EE engine requires 2 hours 22 minutes. Its a dual processor box with 16GB of ram. We have looked at thread counts, -Xmx, -XMs etc... and all appear to be in the normal realm of setting based on other notes (891983).
Anyone else having this issue? We are currently trying to patch to SP8 and like with SP7 it will take days to finish.

Hi Michael,
this very much depends on what you are doing there. Most of the applications are started right after the server (different to ABAP) and that may take a lot of time.
You can prevent that in many cases, as most applications now can be loaded in lazy mode.
Also, please have a look into configuration templates, that let you reconfigure your server right after installation for specific scenarios.
Regards,
Benny
