Can we install Content server in one of the Server in existing landscape on another server? We are planning two content servers, one to connect Development and Quality Server, another to Production server.

Thanks & Regards,

Hi Subba,

yes , you can separate the existing conent server aslo for dms. And use as repository for dms documents. The main task here will be size of the content server. Is it sufficient for the documents for next 5 years and backup data? if yes, then you can separate and use the existing sever for dms.

Hope this will resolve the query.

Content server sizing is a separate exercise that you need to carry out in conjunction with your Basis team and the customer. Capture details along parameters like Office/Plant from where docs would be accessed, the available network bandwidth, number of users, number of transactions per day, maximum size of a single file, number of documents generated/day that would be uploaded and the growth plan for the next 3 years.Once done, the Basis team will provide you with details like CPU,RAM,OS,bandwidth and hard disk space that would be needed from which the cost can be calculated.

It is generally recommended to have the content server installed on a separate server machine. You will be in a position to arive at a decision on this post content server sizing.

This approach is fine as long as the configurations are adhered to.
