Hi,
Heuristics is a unconstrained plan with respect to materials and capacity?
Then why is it required for a planner.......what direction will a unconstrained Demand/ Supply picture give to a planner
Please let me know
Thanks,
SS
Hi SS,
Heuristics will work in situations where the demand is greater than
supplies and supply is not a constraint at the business level (ie
flexibility is more in terms of using third party business). Hence, for
a planner, it helps in arriving at the concencus demand that can be
produced within the available capacity.

Dear
SNP Heuristic is Mid & long term Rough cut capacity planning.
During the planning , we consider all the demand and plan for material and respective capacity at work centers.
With the help of planning results , planner are able to take the long term strategic decisions for example plan for another **** for increasing capacity or new sourcing for more material requirement.

Hi,
Heuristics first does un constrained planning. Then Planner has to Step in to level the capacity.
