License for "Community Developer Edition"

I have found the free of charge "Community Developer License. The most important information are here:

- [New Community Developer License is available|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/weblogs?blog=/pub/wlg/17094] [original link is broken] [original link is broken] [original link is broken];

- [How is this license in comparison to other licenses?|http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=156697029]

When I started reading the forums I found some other users asking about obtaining the license.

I want to be sure before downloading and installing this version...

Q: Where would I get the promised permanent license?

Some people talk about a permanent renewal process, which pretty much got me confused.

I found [SAP Sneak Preview License Key Request|https://websmp130.sap-ag.de/sap(bD1lbiZjPTAwMQ==)/bc/bsp/spn/minisap/minisap.htm], but there is no Community Dev.mentioned....

You are right infact, apologies, I wasn't aware of this ( getting old!).

I looked up the SDN Wiki for the code exchange and found the following link:

http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/CodeExchange/Expirationofmydeveloperlicense

PS: Please check the main FAQ page for Code Exchange, you should be able to find your answers there.

Also,

I found a [blog|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/weblogs?blog=/pub/wlg/16455] [original link is broken] [original link is broken] [original link is broken]; written by Mario Herger ( SAP guy), he has mentioned that you can contact him on his email and he should reply back.

Thanks for your reply Siddesh:

For your first answer: The blog says (quote: "The SAP Community Developer Edition license required for participation in code exchange has not expiration. You can renew the license as often as you want.")

I does not tell me where I would get the license. As in my above posting I have found a license renewal page, but there is no clear indication whether this applies to the "Community Developer Edition".

Furthermore I have checked the FAQs, it not clearly says (or I am too dumb to find it, which is another chance) where to obtain the license. I just want to know before I install the download that I will be able to get a free / permanent license.

Bascially I am looking for someone who is using it (the "Community Developer Edition") and can tell me. But you are right, maybe I should ask Mario H. directly.

Hello,

The page http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=160007255 says that you should simply download and install the server.

The user available as part of the installation is the licensed user as per the FAQ it seems the license will not expire.

However, its best you contact Mario or wait for some user to respond.

Siddhesh
